A Fresh New Location

Last year March, we had one positive Covid case in our building, I had pneumonia and a few @prworx employees had flu-like symptoms so we decided to self-quarantine for two weeks, just in case... Little did I know that our self-isolation period would overlap with a level 5, full economic shut down, followed by 6.5 months of working from home. We immediately implemented innovative online systems to ensure our teams and clients could operate and communicate seamlessly, we held two staff e-meetings a day, bought data and security systems for Africa, and I worked 16-hour days to find new ways of doing business for my agency and our clients.

Despite that, in the first four weeks of lockdown we lost 20% of our client base who had B2C campaigns lined up but no consumers to market to in-store.

By month four, we were down by another 40% as companies fearfully cut their marketing budgets to save as many costs as possible for the unexpected period ahead.

As an entrepreneur, it was a frightening time and some days were tougher than others. But I wouldn’t allow fear to overshadow faith so we continued with our own aggressive marketing campaign, reminding our clients and potential clients that PR Worx is Africa’s Best Public Relations and crisis communications agency for a reason.

I kept reiterating to my team that at the end of this, we’d either be top of mind with clients or we’d have a ton of new business. We ended up achieving both and exceeding our year-on-year growth projections.

Where last year I wanted to give up our offices because we weren’t utilising our space, two months ago we moved to bigger and grander premises (see pic ⬆️) to accommodate our growing team to manage our increasing client base.
